Never Give UP

Hi Everyone,
Welcome back to the BethanyThinggoes blog, first blog post for 2017.  It's been a while since  blogged, but now I’m now back to blogging.

For this blog post I’m going to share with you how I got to where I am today!  First off, I’m going to go back but not that far back. I’m going to take you back to 2002 when I started High School, I would be lying if said High School was easy, but it wasn’t it was a struggle for me. The reason why school was always a struggle for me was because I had to overcome challenges with my learning disability and take more time to understand the work. Now of days I’m not ashamed to share with you that while in school I was always in the small group settings and always had an IEP. The small group environment was better for me to learn the work. During my time in High School there were moments when I wanted to quit; the reason why I didn’t quit was because I had a wonderful support system from my parents and family. 
After High School I went on to college, in my college years the biggest thing I learned was self- advocacy. College is different from High School where you have to request the accommodations and modifications and you don’t have the support from the teachers as you did in secondary school.  In my college years I tried out a few different schools until I found the best fit for me. I’m happy to say that in 2009 -2011 I attended New England Tech and received my Associate’s Degree in Video and Audio Production Technology.  When I was finished with my program at New England Tech, I went on Southern New Hampshire University where I took online classes in communications and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications in 2014.  For me I found online classes to be easy for me, but also difficult. The reason why they were difficult was because you are teaching yourself and don’t have classroom discussions, everything was done online.





To this day my biggest accomplishment for me was earning my Bachelor’s Degree!  The reason why I’m sharing this with you is to tell you know never give up on your dreams and  never give up!

Week 1 of Beginner Yoga Series

On Monday nights I have started taking a six week beginner introduction to yoga class series that  at Yoga With Brenda is offering. The first class lesson on Monday night was all about the foundations of Yoga and going over the kind of yoga it is. Also during the yoga class that night we worked on poses that helped to lengthen and stretch the our entire body and took it slow. This 6 week introduction to yoga series is good for new or advanced yogi's, this way you can know if you are doing the poses correctly. I'm looking forward to next  Monday class lesson where we will learn about breathing and stretching exercises. Thanks for reading -Bethany

Police K'9"s

-  K9 Viking Warwick Police RI, his handler is Officer Aaron Steere. I believe every police department in Rhode Island should have police K9’s. The reason why they should have the K9’s is because they can help out in many different aspects.   These types of K9’s are not like our regular dogs! These police K9 dogs are certified in narcotics detection, patrol work, building searches, area searches, tracking, article recovery, and criminal apprehension. The schooling for the K9’s and handlers lasts 6 months. Also they are trained in handler protection.   For the dogs to know what to do their commands are in given in German/Czech.  Some of the police dogs come from Europe.  Many of these police K9’s are aggressive dogs compared to the one’s in airports where they are more passive.   The difference between aggressive and passive ones are that the aggressive dogs will scratch and bark when they find what they are looking for, the passive dogs are the ones ...

Yoga for the First Time- Year in Review

A year ago today on May 26 th ’2016, I started something brand new for the first time and that was yoga! Last year the first yoga class I took was at Laughing Elephant Yoga and the class   “Basic Yoga Beginner”. When starting out I didn’t know what to expect from a yoga class or if I would even like it, but boy was I wrong I have fallen in love with yoga and enjoy learning new yoga poses, like downward dog, tree pose, and warrior poses. These days I try to do yoga at least 3 times a week if I’m lucky either at Yoga with Brenda or at Laughing Elephant. So far Yoga has taught me to unplug for an hour or so and have time for me and unplugging for me is hard when you're in the media. The Yoga has also challenged me in many different ways it has helped me come out of my comfort zone and over the past year I have meet many new amazing people that I practice with.
