Week 4 of Cranston Police Class

Tonight at our meeting we had an interesting start. At the beginning of the class a guy came in and started yelling asking "who was that person driving the gray car"? After they took him out they advised us that it was mocked. They wanted us to remember what we saw and right down what we was wearing. Then the rest of the class session they provided with us information on their "peer support team they have and also the negotiation team they have. Tonight we had speakers from the Detective Division come up and speak to us about the interview and interrogation process. Overall tonight was a great class!! On Friday night I have my ride along, be on the look out for a post on my ride along!

Cranston Citizen's Police Academy Class Week 2

Hello Everyone, Last night I had my second class of the Cranston Citizen's Police class. At the meeting last night we, did many hands on tasks. The exercises we did last night were building searches and Motor Vehicle Stops. With the building searches we watched first time how to conduct a building search then we had to do it with a partner. The building searches are pretty intense! After we did that my group went outside and we did vehicle stops. For this we had to pretend we were pulling a car over. They wanted us to get a sense of what they go through when they pull someone over.

First Class

Hello Friends, Tonight I had my first class of the Cranston Citizen's Police Academy class. The class was from 6-8 p.m. For the first class we went over introductions, the training division and then the last part of this class they had their k-9 officer and their yellow lab Bosco come tonight and talk about their k-9 unit. This way a very fun an exciting first class. They showed us how the dog can track items, find drugs, and look for people in buildings. The k-9's in police work are a very helpful resource to the police departments. However the k-9 that Cranston has doesn't bite compared to the German Shepherds that are primary used for the police work.   Looking forward to the next 5 weeks!!
